Simple Waste Disposal for Short Visits in Big Bear

Are you visiting Big Bear for the weekend, staying at a vacation rental, or checking on your cabin after some time away? No matter how long you stay, it’s easy to handle your trash and recycling with Big Bear Disposal, Inc.’s two Clean Bear Drop-Off Sites.
These sites are made for the way people live in and visit Big Bear. They give part-time residents, vacation renters, and seasonal visitors a convenient option besides curbside pickup.
- Clean Bear Site #1 41970 Garstin Drive, Big Bear Lake Open daily, 7 am to 8 pm
- Clean Bear Site #2 39690 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake Open daily, 8 am to 5 pm
Both sites accept household trash and recyclables. Clear Bear Site #1 also accepts green and yard waste, e-waste, and universal waste. If you’re bringing ashes from a fireplace or wood stove, they must be fully soaked for at least 48 hours before drop-off.
Who Can Use the Clean Bear Sites?
The sites are open to City of Big Bear Lake residents and visitors staying at homes within the 92315 zip code. Please bring proof of eligibility when you arrive.
What’s Not Accepted?
To keep the Clean Bear Sites running smoothly and following city rules, some items are not allowed:
- Liquids, furniture, or appliances
- Commercial cardboard or commercial waste of any kind
- Construction or demolition debris, including lumber
- Hazardous waste (solvents, paint, oil, car batteries, medical waste)
- Green waste from contractors
You can take hazardous waste to the City of Big Bear Lake Public Works facility at 42040 Garstin Drive on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm, if the weather allows.
Violators of Clean Bear Site restrictions face a $250 fine under BBLMC 8.64.140 and 8.64.150.
Why this is Important
Leaving trash at vacation homes or letting it pile up between visits can attract wildlife, cause safety issues, and impacts the quality of life for the entire neighborhood. Clean Bear Sites help prevent this by giving everyone a quick and easy way to get rid of waste responsibly, even if you are only here for a short time.
Taking just five minutes to drop off your trash before you leave really helps keep Big Bear clean.
